Black Amber to launch ‘Reggae On Soul’

Reggae man, Black Amber, will launch his Reggae On Soul album on March 22 at the Kenyabia entertainment complex near the famous Abrantie Spot at Abeka Lapaz in Accra.

Music on the Reggae On Soul album is predominantly reggae but there are identifiable elements of lovers rock and soul in there. Black Amber will be backed at the launch by the Biibiba band.

Singer-actress, Benni Yaroo is also expected to perform songs from her debut album at the function. Real name, Anthony Appiah King, Black Amber has lived and worked in places such as Egypt, Japan, Canada and Thailand. An active educationist as well, he says it is the passion to tell positive stories and inspire young people which drives him to do music.

“I’m concerned about love and unity,” says Black Amber who describes himself as a nationalist and Pan-Africanist and also has recording label to nurture young musical talents.

“I just want to state through music that we must have confidence in ourselves and aim to record music capable of selling abroad. If our music is patronised outside and musicians work regularly, that would take some of the economic burden off the central government.”

Tracks on the 10-track Reggae on Soul album include Reggae on the High Street, Give I Your Loving and Pain In My Heart. Guitarist Dominic Quarchie and drummer, Francis Osei are among the instrumentalists featured on the album.

Emcee for the launch event is Black Santino.
