Ghana must be bold and cut the dependency cord – Samia

Samia Nkrumah says Ghana must free itself from dependency on international agencies and donors.

In her Independence Day anniversary message, the daughter of Ghana’s first President said Ghana must use the same strategies his father used to gain independence in 1957, to free herself from economic dependency.

She wrote: “Let us not be afraid. Let us capture the strategies that enabled us gain independence and set the stage for our economic breakthrough”.

The former Jomoro Legislator and Chairperson of the Convention Peoples’ Party said: “Let us recapture our agenda for freedom, freedom from fear and dependency”.

According to her, Ghanaians must dedicate themselves to “realizing a patriotic, de-tribalized society that is confident in the variety of what we produce, basking in our capacity to innovate, proud of our ability to deliver and meet the needs of all Ghanaians”.
