The Goaso District Magistrate Court in the Brong Ahafo Region has remanded two suspects brought before it for allegedly assaulting and stripping naked a female pupil teacher.

The incident which happened at the Gambian Number 2 D/A Primary School in the Asutifi North District of the Brong Ahafo region saw the two suspects, Lydia Antwi and Beatrice Amponsah beat up the teacher for disciplining one of her pupils.

The suspects pleaded not guilty to the three charges of Assault, Offensive Conduct and Conspiracy.

Meanwhile the District Executives of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) were in court to support the teacher.

Speaking to Citi News, the GNAT Asunafo District Secretary, Samuel Davis Yeboah, said he has directed all its members in the district who boycotted classes because of the incident to return to the classrooms.

“Initially, we asked our members there to stay away from classes. We advocated that if the culprits were not arrested, we would take action against them but now that the culprits have been arrested I don’t think it will be fair to punish all the students,” he explained.
