The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Nathan Kofi Boakye, has called on metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives (MMDCEs) to support the police in the fight against crime in the Ashanti Region.

He said the police administration in the region was mapping out plans to strengthen the police’s capacity in crime-prone areas of the region, especially in the Kumasi Metropolis where many there were reports of robbery.

He noted that a number of taxi drivers were using tainted glasses for commercial activities and used that opportunity to rob passengers.

He stressed the need for the formation of landlords security associations and vigilante groups to complement the work of police patrols in the various residential areas to serve as a check on criminals.

DCOP Boakye called on Kumasi residents to feed the police with the necessary information on criminals to quicken the effort of the police in fighting crime in the metropolis.
