GIP holds Confab

Ghana Institute of Planners (GIP) has held a conference at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi to adopt measures and strategies aimed at promoting the image of the profession.

The conference also looked at ways to finalise measures for the approval of the National Planning Law by Parliament for national development.

The President of the Ghana Institute of Planners (GIP), Dr Stephen Saforo Yirenkye, echoed the need for the passage of the National Planning Law, which will regulate planning practices in Ghana.

He said there was the need to change the old National Planning Law to reflect current national development. He called for support in areas of human capacity building and provision of logistics to enhance their work for national development.

He said a study conducted as part of an advocacy exercise reviewed the need for urgent support for the Ghana Institute of Planners, especially the metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies in their agenda for development.
