Reverend Emmanuel Osafo-Boateng, Minister-In-Charge of the Nantoma Memorial Congregation of the Presbyterian Church, Kanda, has said a place of worship is going to build in memory of late Reverend Dr. Jacobs Jamani Nantoma at Bunkpurugu, his home town.

He explained that the late Rev. Dr Nantoma, who was once the Minister-In-Charge of the congregation died on March 25, 1985; though the Kanda Presbyterian Church had been named after him, the need to do much by building a worship place in his memory.

“Tragedy struck the congregation on March 25, 1985; when Rev. Dr Nantoma and his wife together with their two children, a niece of Mrs Nantoma and one student of the Trinity College-Legon were trapped by a falling tree at Akomadan in the Ashanti Region on their way to the Northern Region, adding that “They all perished, except the niece of Mrs Nantoma who survived,” he said.

Rev. Osafo-Boateng made the remarks at a press conference held in Accra on Friday where he also outlined activities marking the congregation’s 30th anniversary which is on the theme “Chosen to Bear Fruit.”

He noted that among the series of activities slated to mark the anniversary include a health walk and health screening on June 21, an exposition on the Kanda Presbyterian church on June 23, a Praise and Adoration night on June 24, as well as a talk on the anniversary theme and “What do you know” on June 26.

“Beginning of this year, a number of activities like marriage seminars, health talks, fun games, bible quiz and musical concerts, have been held as part of the activities marking the congregation's anniversary, but we can’t climax without having the rest which are also important on the anniversary’s calendar," Rev Osafo-Boateng said.

He also noted that, on June 27 there would be a congregational Prayer meeting, a clean-up exercise and a visit to the Juvenile Correction Centre on June 28.

Rev Osafo-Boateng, however, revealed that on Sunday, June 29, there will be a thanks-giving service to climax the anniversary where Rev Dr Kwabena Opuni Frimpong, General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana would be the guest preacher.
