Salsa Fiesta Season 4 launched

This year’s Close-Up Salsa Fiesta has been launched with a new twist. The Salsa Fiesta competition was launched in 2011 and it has since offered Salsa lovers the opportunity to take lessons in the dance and battle each other for both Salsa King and Salsa Queen titles.
Salsa + Azonto + Alkayida
Season 4 dubbed “The Freshness Dance Revolution” promises to be very different and more engaging with the inclusion of the popular Ghanaian dances such as ‘Azonto’ and ‘Alkayida’ to step up the level of freshness and excitement.
Speaking at the launch, Patience Oforiwa Mpereh, Senior Brands Manager Oral care, Unilever Ghana Limited said, this year’s competition is going to be relaxed and open to as many young people as possible to generate more fun.
“You don’t need to be a Salsa expert to participate. A series of simple Salsa fusion dance moves such as Salsa + Azonto, Salsa + Alkayida etc will be taught through social media, Musical programs on TV & on the spot dance lessons.”
Another exciting twist to this year’s edition is the involvement of celebrity Salsa performances. Names of the celebrities will be made public soon. There will also be performances from seasoned musicians.
Accra and Kumasi parties
Mrs Oforiwa Mpereh said there will be two regional open air parties; one in Kumasi and the second in Accra which would also serve as the grand finale.
“We are not leaving our friends from Takoradi out of the fun” she said continuing that, some people will be recruited from Takoradi to take part in the Kumasi party.
Throwing more light on the event, she said, “During the competition, audience will be randomly called to couple up and execute these Salsa fusion moves with difficulty level ranging from mimicking to creating moves. People will level up through the competition and the best two persons will be selected from each region to participate in the grand finale in Accra.”

Winners will be rewarded with exciting items such as Dr Dre beat, cash prizes and hefty hampers from Unilever.
“There will also be lots of exciting and engaging moments such as the Close Up moment photo contest & freshness corner with your favourite celebrities on social media and radio respectively. Our weekly TV series will air on some selected TV stations,” she said.
