Author: Charles Agbenu Posted: 2014-06-29 08:06:50
By calculation 17000 was deducted from each of the 23 players fees (23 x 17000= 391000). The Officials were also paid and they paid taxes. The whole figure is about $500. 000 in taxes. Are we morons and nincompoops. We should have paid the money in Ghana and piad those taxes in Ghana. Its all maladministration being displayed by Mahama --the doormat President just worthless and valueless

Footballers travel enough that they should know that. Even Ghana does not allow you to carry more than $10000 in cash into the country. But their greedy attitudes clouded their minds. Now let's hear them tell the GFA to pay the 17%! Fools!

BNI is getting no where, if it true that the case has been referred to them. Ministry of Transport is still don't know what to do and Mahama is trying to bury his head under the sand so that after another 3 rears he wont be in power. This is really not fair.

Who authorized this money to be sent to Brazil? I know Seth Tekper will never never do this, neither will the BOG governor. Who ever advised our President to take this uncalculated action will have themselves to blame. I was appalled when I heard that a chartered flight had taken off with CASH to pay the players. This is a big howler.

I am surprised our players don't know about this. But should we cry for them?

17% TAX TO BRAZIL??????????

Author: DJAN Posted: 2014-06-29 09:34:27
These monies could have been paid into the account of the players back home in Ghana and it is only the documents showing the transaction which should be sent to them. Moreover it is very risky carrying that huge sum of money. Huge sum of money should never be carried next time in that form.!!!!!!!!!!!

EXACTLY SO

Author: DusTY-FooT-pHiloSophER Posted: 2014-06-29 09:35:19
The government flying such a huge amount to a foreign country was a dumb idea to begin with since there are rules and regulations for moving large amount of money across sovereignties and they as a government of a republic should have known better. The boys have bank accounts all over the place for Christ sakes and wiring the money through them could have saved us the embarrassment and all the unfortunate happenings thereinafter.

I believed it all boils down to trust, courtesy OYOKOBA and he is damned right on that score. They should rather count ther lucky stars that the airport authority in Brazil is claiming only 17% off from each player. Any other country in the eastern part of Europe including Russia or the Middle East would have demanded 25 or more percentage off their famous "cash and carry" bounty.

PAYING TAX IS A CIVIC OBLIGATION

Author: ,, Posted: 2014-06-29 10:28:24
I cannot get it that Ghanaians are blaming the govt for the tax taken from the players’ appearance fees. The players asked for it before playing their last match against Portugal. The issue was so dire that the money had to be flown to them in cash.
The players themselves are not complaining because all of them pay taxes in the countries where they play football and the tax percentage can vary. Some are as high as 25% and I understand Kwarasey could pay higher because Norway has a very high tax percentage. Ghana does not deduct taxes that should be Ghana’s problem.
So if these boys asked for their cash and are paying tax on it what is your beef? Messi faced tax charges not long ago

All the Ghana FIC has been doing to enhance Ghana's image regarding cash transactions, disclosures and declarations, has been a bloody waste of time ! I said this and I am saying it again. Let's disband the present management of the Black Stars and reorganize the team making sure we include some of the young talented Black Starlets. Most of the current players have outlived their usefulness to the country. They have become arrogant because of their engagements in Europe. They disobey authority because of their wealth; and the country that provided the environment to nurture their talents can not have a say in what they do presently as they displayed in Brazil. Why do we keep them?

crying over the tax ???

Author: sam Posted: 2014-06-29 19:14:47
I hope the Ghana govt also takes whatever tax the players are obligated to pay to the coffers. After all by law they are suppose to pay that tax. Teachers and nurses can not continue to be the only tax payers when this so call footballers drive around in the most expensive cars on the roads that have been constructed with the poor teachers salaries/taxes. I will suggest the govt takes it out of their bonuses and make the records open to the public
