Atsu backs young Black Stars to sparkle in future

Ghana winger Christian Atsu hopes the team will put lessons learned from their abject 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign to good use for future tournaments.
The 22-year-old featured in all of Ghana’s three Group G matches and excelled.
Playing in his first World Cup tournament, Atsu is disappointed the Black Stars could not equal their two previous records of progressing from the Group stage.
“We’re very sad about going out like this, but there’s not much we can do about it now,” Atsu told Fifa.com in an interview.
“Naturally, I’m delighted to have had the chance to play in the World Cup, but right now, all I feel is sadness, because we really wanted to make the last 16. And I think we deserved to as well.”
Ghana presented the youngest squad at the tournament and Atsu believes they are capable of bouncing back.
“There’s no question we’ve got a young team with a lot going for it. With old hands like Asamoah Gyan around we can still achieve big things for Ghanaian and African football in the next few World Cups.”
