Go Back to Chief of Staff halts $63,000 NPA monthly rent

SULEY MUNTARI, WE THANK GOD FOR UR LIFE!

Author: AL JAZEERA NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 2014-06-29 12:50:57
Below is what led to the brawl.

Sulley: WHAT IS THE USE OF SOO MANY G.F.A OFFICIALS & OTHERS HERE? You Are Basically Non-Essential and have no role or duties here. Your Number even dwarf that of the players... You receive Bonuses for no work done. You are a drain on the Govt.... You always make money on our back and you see every Tournament as a means to make money.... And You Have The Vim to question us why we want our money?

Moses Armah: Your money will come take time, the captain is speaking….

Sulley: Shut up, are you the one paying the money or you are the Prez?

Moses Armah: I won’t allow you to include me in your list of victims oo…..I'm a gangster more than you.

Sulley: So you can fight me eh (moving towards Moses’ direction disentangling himself from other guys retraining him).

Moses Armah: Am ready for you. You think i'm a coward?

Sulley: (picks a bottle and drop it, surprisingly jumps and slaps Moses) Fuck you!!

Moses: Returns the slap with a blow lifts a fork…and Jonathan Mensah holds Moses’ hand up.

Essien sits quietly, Gyan and Appiah speak Ga to Sulley, calming him down as Moses is whisked away by Saban Quaye

MAHAMA PRAISES STARS

Author: Kenule Posted: 2014-06-29 13:00:23
I CAN'T BELIEVE THE PRESIDENT IS HEAPING PRAISE ON THE STARS. HE DOESN'T HAVE TO PRAISE THEM WHEN THEY ARE NOT WORTHY OF PRAISE. LOOK AT OTHER NATIONS' PLAYERS. THEY CRY WHEN THEIR ANTHEM IS SANG. TO THEM, IT'S AN HONOR TO REPRESENT THEIR COUNTRIES. FOR OURS, THEIR MIND IS CAST ON THE SECURITY OF THEIR MONIES BACK IN THEIR HOTELS. THESE ARE GUYS WHO DIDN'T EVEN HAVE BIRTH CERTIFICATES UNTIL THE COUNTRY MADE ONE FOR THEM. WE TOLD THEM WHAT THEIR AGES WOULD BE. WE GIVE THEM EVERYTHING. OF COURSE NATIONS ARE SUPPOSED TO PROVIDE THESE FOR THEIR CITIZENS, BUT FOR THE STARS TO EVEN THINK OF HOLDING EVERYONE TO RANSOM SO THEIR MONIES WOULD BE PAID TO THEM, AND IN THE PROCESS, EMBARRASSING THE NATION, THEY DON'T DESERVE ANY PRAISE, AND NOT FROM THE PRESIDENT. IF THIS IS THE WAY THE PRESIDENT SEES AND SOLVES PROBLEMS THAT CONFRONT US, THEN I AM AFRAID......

WHAT A SHAME

Author: KWAA Posted: 2014-06-29 13:11:29
Can the Blackman really manage its own affairs?
If yes, then the present Government of Ghana is not setting a good example.
It is really a shame that such incompetent people are ruling Ghana.

so why is yaro kasambata still at post?

Author: Pontius Pilate Posted: 2014-06-29 13:14:34
that guy justified the forthrightness of the decision. i don't care whether he was only communicating the decision of management of the NPA. once the chief of staff has countered that decision, he has no business being there.

and i don't see why the NPA should continue occupying the facility. they should be ordered to move out immediately and the board and management charged with causing financial loss to the state.

thirdly the energy minister must either resign or be fired because by the chief of staff's decision and directive, a vote of no confidence has been passed on him.

Wow, The Presidency Has a Share in It?

Author: Ben Posted: 2014-06-29 13:36:07
For the presidency to issue directives to halt the investigation tells you how far up the rot is? Who owns the property in question and why all of a sudden the presidency has to intervene?

SHAME

Energy minister doesn't know that NPA are paying $63.000 a month rent, office of the President doesn't know either, minister of energy set up a committee to investigate the whether the cost per month was appropriate, now the chief of staff is directing the minister of energy to dissolve the committee. Are they trying to tell Ghanaians that, none of them were aware of NPA paying such huge amount every blessed month? If that was the case, then none of these bunch of JOKERS are fit to manage any position in Ghana.

USE DEMOCRACY RESOUCEFULLY

Author: Merlic, London Posted: 2014-06-29 14:21:11
'The Minister had described the $63,000 a month office space for the Authority as not representing "prudent use of state resources'

So in accordance with the minister's view, suspend the CEO with pay and work really fast on the issue so to reach a decision on possible impropriety of state funds and when establshed SACK ULTIMATELY.

That is the only way to stop these things. We all like democracy but so do the poor and defenceless. They need good roads, good schools, good water, good hospitals and GOOD LIFE.

$63000 rent wahala

Author: K A Ohemeng, Tema Posted: 2014-06-29 14:25:03
Did the Chief of Staff know of the rent agreement and payments made therefrom only after the fact? Is the impression being created that in this country everybody is in charge with no one in control? No wonder we seem to be in such a mess. Pathetic.

Goddamn it!!!

Author: KOKOLIKOKO Posted: 2014-06-29 14:42:02
Why dissolve the committee? Why? Why? And why? Dissolving the committe and ordering the Minsirty of Energy not to renew the agreement doesn't get to the bottom of the matter! It doesn't reveal how the rot came into being in the first place! So why not allow the committee to do its investigation and come out with its findings so that not only can we as a people learn from them but also we as a polity see to how not to repeat such rot-making again!

Has the committee been dissolved because it will reveal that the genesis of the rot is higher, higher up the political ladder? Are those higher up in the Indian House, that amorphous thing they call Jubillee House, scared of probity and accountability?

Why is minister not fired?

Author: Abeeku Mensah Posted: 2014-06-29 14:42:38
While this belated act from the executive office is welcome, it is my opinion that the minister should have been removed from post for exhibiting extreme delegation of duties even in matters that calls for his direct participation. Furthermore I think he should be called to answer why it would be inappropriate to charge him and a few others with causing financial loss or harm to the nation

Author: Dr Robert Glah Posted: 2014-06-29 14:54:13
How long is the lease?

The rent must be reviewed for the appropriate rent retrospectively and the lease must be terminated asap on the ground that the lease is against the interest of Ghana.

Our survival depends on our absolute integrity and honesty.

Will Prosper Bani first reveal to Ghanaians the owner of the building? Why is the rent (for an office space in a building located in Ghana) in dollars? Ghanaians and especially taxpayers need to know! I am yet to come across a government as hopeless, heartless and corrupt as the current government. Bunch of criminals!

If the committee had continued all that would happen is the committee members would have got a share on top of the $63000 maybe another $6300 a month. Prosper stopped all the nonsense and the only thing left to do is imprison the man who signed the contract for $63000 a month.

Author: New Shriff in Town Posted: 2014-06-29 15:33:41
Ghanaians must demand to know the ownership of that building. That will answer some of the questions surrounding the decision to use the tax-payers' money the way it was used. The investigation that Prosper Bani on behalf of Mahama is truncating would have revealed the reasons behind such obvious create, loot and share tactics

Too late

Author: John Posted: 2014-06-29 15:34:39

Why don't yo allow a conclusion to the investigation and make it's findings transparent, except you have something to hide.

Author: C. Stephen Sackey. Posted: 2014-06-29 16:52:45
Am I missing something here, what are the principles and vision of his Excellency the President? I like to know.

And where does this Prosper Bani guy derive the power to set aside a, supposedly , signed lease contract between a Gov't agency and a private party ?

Or it's just an exhibition of the arrogance of power which ultimately leads to default judgements against the Government?

Don't let your hearts be troubled though, things would get better when the real patriots come to power. Inshalla.

Ghana is rich, this is no money to cry about when classes are held under trees in the country

GHANA NEEDS TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS

Author: GOWAN Posted: 2014-06-29 23:35:17
The e de bee k3k3 better Ghana agenda championed by the Mahama/Amissah Arthur led NDC gov't which is nothing but a create, loot and share policy of gargantuan proportions spearheaded by a bunch of looting brigands is now in full effect, and the result of this looting is the hardships that Ghanaians continue to be saddled with every single blessed day.
How can the NPA be paying $63,000 dollars to an individual who Ghanaians do not even know, to the point of making an advance payment of a year close to a staggering amount of almost $1million dollars, which could have put up a similar or much better edifice to be used as an office for the NPA?
As a matter of public interest where taxpayer funds again are being used in this regard to feed a clear case of unbridled and unmitigated sleaze of humongous propensity, how can the Chief of Staff direct that, there should be a curtailment of investigations into this aberration?
Indeed, this can be nothing but clearly an attempt to railroad the much needed transparency and accountability measures into the ditch, which is critically needed to ascertain why taxpayer funds can be appropriated in such a valueless manner. And in seeking to get to the bottom of this matter, one is left to wonder if the Chief of Staff can summarily halt investigations into a matter of such greater public interest in this fashion?
As an effective tool ie an investigation, to promote transparency and good governance with effective accountability at it's core, the call by the Chief of Staff brings to the fore that, the Mahama led NDC gov't does not subscribe to the strict standards of transparency, accountability and good governance, and it can be inferred that, the crisis that has bedeviled the country with Ghana brought to it's knees and struggling with untold hardship is a direct consequence of the lack of proper and acceptable standards of conduct expected of our elected officials in a democracy where the holding of public office is for the promotion of the greater public good.
Ghana has been hit by the tsunami of incompetence and a policy of create, loot and share and it has served to send Ghana in a state of retrogression and absolute stagnation.
It is the hope of Ghanaians that as a matter of gretaer public interest, greater emphasis would be brought to bear by the legislature, judiciary, civil society orgs, think tanks, the media, clergy, the labour front, etc, etc to ensure that, Ghana gets to the bottom of such sleaze and by so doing, institute measures to prevent the reoccurrence of such activities which does not provide any value for money for the citizenry in these rather hard times as a result of austerity. Ghana deserves the best.
