Bayport Financial Services supports students

Bayport Financial Services in conjunction with the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has provided a scholarship package to 10 brilliant needy students for their education from the secondary to tertiary level.

This brings to 60, the number of scholarships awarded to beneficiaries since the inception of the scheme seven years ago.Three bursaries were also awarded to three hard working students.

The scheme forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

In its seventh year, the scheme is aimed at encouraging brilliant students in deprived areas to get quality education.

The former General Secretary of the GNAT, Mrs Irene Duncan Adanusa, in a statement, noted that the collaborative effort between Bayport and GNAT had yielded fruits considering the achievements it had chalked up since its inception.

She lauded the scheme and mentioned that many students had benefited from it.

Mrs Adanusa further noted that parents should take this opportunity to partner teachers to help guide and guard their children to be of good behaviour and distinguish themselves during the period of the scholarship.

She noted that it was based on their performance that Bayport and GNAT would be encouraged to extend the support to other students.

The Managing Director of Bayport Financial Services, Mr Kofi Adu-Mensah, urged the beneficiaries to see themselves as lucky and proud students who have been given the platform to add value to their lives.

The Paramount Chief of the Assin Owirenkyi Traditional Area and board member of Bayport Financial Services, Nana Pra Agyensaim VI, urged the students to take up the challenge and remain disciplined and committed to their books and refrain form acts that could endanger their lives.

He said " what distinguishes a bad child from a good child is good training" he noted.
