TMA Chief Executive cuts sod for IBASP project

Mr. Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Chief Executive of the Tema Municipal Assembly, on Friday cut the sod to commence work on a two story Industrial Basic School Project (IBASP) at Oninku Cluster of Schools.

The $300,000 project is expected to be completed within 12 months, and is funded by the Government of Ghana, with donor support from the World Bank.

Mr. Odamtten, said the Industrial Basic School project, comprised a two story educational complex, that contained twelve classrooms, and other facilities such as ICT laboratories, a sick bay and a staff common room. The structure also has adjoining facilities for recreation such as a basketball court, a table tennis set, and a volley ball pitch.

He said the IBASP was an arrangement to maximize land space by going vertical, instead of the usual lateral structures, which only occupied space and did not ensure efficient land use.

The TMA Chief Executive said the works department of the Assembly, had completed its audit of all public school lands and soon, the Assembly together with other partners, and would commence the fencing of all public schools in Tema. "This would prevent encroachment of school lands," he said.
