Teen Choice Awards to honour the youth

Members of the public who have excelled in their various fields of endeavour will be rewarded at the maiden edition of the 4syte Teen Choice Awards scheduled for August 20 at the National Theatre.

Organised by event company Silver Network in partnership with the 4Syte TV, the awards will focus on industrious teenagers whose works and initiatives have contributed to the development of the society and their contributions have been duly recognised.

There are 17 categories for which 15 winners will be awarded on the night based on public votes.

Some of the categories are Choice Movie Star, Choice Music Artiste, Choice Music Group and Choice Television Show.

The others are Choice School, Choice Spartan and Choice Music Video awards. There will be two honorary awards for Student Excellence and Social Development.

A five-member panel has been instituted to select the winners for the two honorary awards.

According to the Head of Silver Network, Mr Winfred Baah, the awards scheme will serve as a platform to inspire the youth,as well as encourage teenagers, to accept their responsibility of contributing to the development of the nation.

“We believe that society is in a good place when it recognises and appreciates the contribution of its outstanding citizens. As the future leaders of this country, we are convinced that teenagers who have started making remarkable difference in our society should not be left out but encouraged to do more.

“We believe that such awards will encourage their compatriots to follow suit in their great deeds,” he said in a statement.

The Chief Executive Officer of 4syte TV, Mr. Ignace Hego, said his company was delighted to be associated with the awards because they recognised the efforts of such young talents in developing their respective societies.

“This award ceremony reminds me of my early days in the creative industry, and as someone in that field, I know how difficult it is to bring your dreams to reality.

“This is just one of the ways we can encourage and celebrate them for their remarkable initiatives,” he stated.
