Meet Kwaw the pianist

Ebenezer Kwaw, aka EX, has carved a niche for himself as an ace pianist though he has not been in the music industry for long.

Ebenezer has been churning out some lovely tunes for many artistes in the country since he joined the music industry in 2007, after graduating from senior high school.

Ebenezer is a product of Benkum Senior High School in Larteh Akuapem in the Eastern Region, where he was the music director. He currently works with Afroharmony Band; a hip-hop band made up of youngsters.

EX, as fans affectionately call him, told NEWS-ONE in an interview that though music, as a talent, runs through his bloodline none of his family members has taken up music as a profession or career, except him.

He has so far worked with Crème de le Crème, Stephanie Benson, Efya, EL, Raquel, Manifest, Edem, Reggie Rockstone, Fokn Bois and Ofie Cudjoe, all of whom have made strides in the Ghanaian music industry.

Apart from this, he has performed at some of the biggest musical concerts, including the VGMA, Vodafone Icons, Felabration in Nigeria, EL’s BAR, Tursker Malt Concert in Kenya and Uganda, Miss Maliaka, Bless the Mic Festival, Indie Fuse and African Legends Night.

Ebenezer Kwaw has an ambition to become the greatest pianist of all time and make a living out of it.

“If you are a child and you tell your parents you want to be a musician in Ghana here, they would tell you that you cannot make a living out of it and raise a family,” he noted.

He added that his work had not been without occupational hazards. He disclosed that during the ‘Big Ghana Tour’ with the Fokn Bois organized by Baveria, there was an occasion when the crowd had a confrontation with the police, in the process the police sprayed tier-gas whilst the crowd hurled stones unto the stage so they had to take cover.
