Ayariga talks Ghana boxing with Bukom Banku

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga on Saturday hosted famous Ghanaian boxer Braimah Kamoko a.k.a Bukom Banku at his residence to discuss government’s short-term and long-term plans for the sport.

Saturday’s meeting allowed both parties to dine, fraternize and share concrete ideas about how government intends to develop boxing in Ghana.

The meeting comes at the backdrop of the Minister’s visits to the Cape Coast Stadium, Azumah Nelson Sports Complex and national team camps as he seeks to revive the dwindling sporting fortunes of the country.

Bukom Banku took the opportunity to share with Mr. Ayariga what he wants government to do for the Sport now and in the future.

Mahama Ayariga also revealed in the meeting that he was in talks with the Cuban government to seek support to boost boxing in the country. He noted that the Cuban government has expressed its desire to send trainers to Ghana once an agreement is reached between both nations.

He also assured Banku that the government was very concerned about boxing as a sport and was going to give serious considerations to the sport and the men and women involved in it.

Meanwhile, Bukom Banku will be fighting Ghana Army’s John Napari in his next bout on October 3rd, 2014 and both parties have promised to give fans something bigger than what they experienced during the Banku-Powers bout in May.
