Devio Arts Centre, Tigo to host Second Child Arts Festival

Devio Arts Centre, a Ghanaian-based non-profit Childhood Arts Development Centre, would host the second annual children’s arts festival at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park, in Accra, next week.

The two-day fun festival, which would start on Thursday, August 21, is a collaboration between the Centre and the Tigo ‘Reach for Change’ programme.

It is aimed at inspiring creativity in selected art forms for the thousands of children and parents who are expected to attend the event.

The park will be completely transformed into visual art and applied art zones to enable the participants learn painting, recycling, calligraphy and sculpting among, other things.

Founder of Devio Arts Centre, Ms Lily Kudzro said, “I encourage parents to show interest in the creative side of their children. This festival will tap into the creative side of children and enable them to learn and develop their imaginations.”

Madam Kudzro said the festival would be a springboard to replicate child creative centres around the country.

The Centre also offers programmes for the vulnerable and underprivileged children to develop their analytic and critical talent using special needs technique.

The August Festival’s sponsors include the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Prudential Bank, Kalyppo, Street Library Ghana, Viasat 1, and Next Door Beach Resort.

Participants would include Google Developer Group, Alive and Kicking Ghana, and Agripro Ghana.

Devio Arts Center is open to both local and international partnerships who want to develop children’s art.
