Afoko is a liar - Freddie Blay

Mr. Freddie Blay, the First Vice-Chairperson of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and publisher of the Daily Guide newspaper, has described his political boss, Mr. Paul Afoko, as a liar.

Speaking on JOY FM’s news program, TOP STORY on Tuesday, Mr. Freddie Blay was asked whether it was true that according to Mr. Paul Afoko, they had all discussed the new changes at the party Headquarters, and to this Mr. Blay burst out that it was not true; and that Mr. Afoko was a liar.

In what seems to have broken the camel’s back, Mr. Kwabena Agyepong, the General Secretary of the NPP, late last week, wrote to the deputy Communications Director of the party, Mr. Perry Okudzeto, to proceed on his two (2) years’ accumulated leave just this Monday, 18th August, 2014.

Unhappy with the directive, Mr. Freddie Blay went bonkers on Asempa FM, an Accra radio station; revealing that Kwabena Agyepong has no respect for other members of the National Executive Committee.

According to the NPP’s First vice-chairman, Kwabena Agyepong treats them like kids and does not involve them in some of the major decisions that he takes.

Unable to stomach the arrogance of the NPP General Secretary, Mr. Blay indicated that, he (Kwabena Agyepong) is taking so many things for granted and he (Agyepong) must know the NPP is not his property.

Mr. Blay added that, “he (Kwabena Agyepong) is overstepping his powers’ bound as a General Secretary, by taking decisions “which will gravely affect us as a party."

The completely vindictive directive by Kwabena Agyepong has since left the NPP divided to the extent that on Tuesday, some aggrieved supporters of the party decided to disrupt a press briefing scheduled to take place at the party Headquarters.

Obviously breathing life into their “all die be die” mantra, the NPP Headquarters was a panorama of pandemonium with violent confrontations between different factions in the party.

According to media reports, some angry party supporters besieged the NPP Headquarters threatening to beat up party chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong, when the two were addressing the press, regarding the recent disagreement that ensued over a directive to one of its communications directors to proceed on leave without further delay.

Even though the identities of these angry supporters were not readily revealed, reports have it that about ten (10) men wielding machetes believed to be party guards decided to attack everything they see on sight, including a four-wheel-drive vehicle parked near the headquarters.

However, the timely intervention of the police saved Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong from being taught a bitter lesson.
