Interior minister urges security agencies to be discipline

The Minister of the Interior, Mr Mark Owen Woyongo, has called on security agencies to be disciplined and eschew partisan politics as it did not augur well with their line of service as law enforcers and protectors of the country.

Mr Woyongo said when personnel served as vigilante to one another and report those involved in hideous acts that did not speak well of the service they would regain their image and confidence of Ghanaians.

He said this on Tuesday during a tour of the Ghana National Fire Service and the Police Headquarters.

He said the country appreciated the work of both the Ghana National Fire Service and the Police Service and that was why the government was working hard to provide logistics and increase the number of personnel.

Mr Woyongo said the government had put premium on the security agencies to improve on their equipment in a conscious effort to enable them work better.

Also, government is making conscious effort to address both office and residential accommodation for Fire Service personnel, adding that these would be budgeted for next year.

The Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, said over the years the Police had serious challenge with their image and the Service had embarked programmes to redeem their image.
