DMM Training Centre to dedicate to showbiz industry

An ultra-modern centre dedicated to training professionals for the country’s television and entertainment industries has opened in Accra.

The institute, which seeks to embrace the media industry through creativity, provides both theoretical and practical training that enhances the skills of an independent filmmaker, graphic artiste, sound engineer and animator.

It also offers professional advanced certificate programmes to both Ghanaian and international students.

Scheduled to commence tutelage on Monday, September 1, the DMM Training Centre is poised not only to become a centre of excellence in the country and Africa, but also intends becoming an online television station in next six months.

According to the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Rev Paul Daniels, “There is currently no private training centre as DMM in the whole of West Africa.”

The centre, formerly located at Accra New Town, now occupies the last floor of a four-storey edifice at Aketweyman, near Lapaz, offering specialised courses in television, music and film productions.

These include visual editing, sound engineering, music technology, graphic designing, digital filmmaking, photography and cinematography, 3D animation, vocal coaching, and piano and guitar lessons.

At the inauguration of the centre, Rev Daniels announced that the centre has, since 2010, trained about 300 professionals, some now in the employ of television stations across the country.

“We train students to satisfy what the industry needs,” he said, indicating that the training of 12 additional students would commence on Monday, with doors still opened for more intakes.

Mr Eugene Odame, Head of Productions at Multi TV, who spoke on the theme ‘Multimedia Dimension A Potent 21st Century Channel for Job Creation’, commended the centre for training real professionals for the industry.

“I can bear witness to your good works because I work with some of them in my office,” he said, recommending the centre to people with an interest in the courses offered by the centre.

The centre was dedicated to the glory of God by Archbishop Prince Daniels of True Bible Church, UK; Apostle Amoako Atta of Freedom Chapel International, Ghana and Bishop Bright Michael Adofo of Peace Chapel International.
