The perpetractors of this shameful and disgraceful acts should be arrested and charge if it's true that they stole these cars.

Ghanaians are taken over from Nigerians, the scandal 419, corruption and thievery, which has tarnished the image of thier country abroad.

Please, cut your coat according to your size and stop the "SHOW-OFF". Yesterday, it was drugs, today, it's car theft. I bet you, if you delve into this case properly you will be surprised to hear of BIG names.
PTIFUL JOURNALISM -MISPELLINGS

What exactly do the editors at these media houses in Ghana do?. Several of the car brands and models are either omitted or mis-spelled:

*NISSAN MURANO
*INFINITI
*ACURA

There was a time when teachers would consider an answer to a test question wrong if it was mis-spelled. To see this in our flag ship news paper is very sad indeed. Indicative of how things have regressed.

Auction Cars

I think they should auction these cars off to the public and use the proceeds to enhance port security. But then again these same criminals might end up buying it back. JUST A THOUGHT

Actually, there is nothing wrong in purchasing a 2007 car in 2006. The owner of the Honda Ridgeline 4 is correct; if there still remains some doubt, go after the ownership, registration or any LEAN held against the vehicle. Times are different; we have instant messages capability, it is cheap and you can retrieve all relevant documents for the vehicle without violating the owner's privacy from the country it was purchased. These info. are readily available depending on 'how far' one chooses to go.
Do not make too much out of nothing, Insurance companies will love to provide you with all the legal documentation on the vehical.

I know some people who are doing car business, for example if you have a good Credit you can buy those cars and when given your BMV title you can ship it to any where sell it and come back and pay your creditors back. This people deal with new cars. The question involve is that; what BMV and the dealship will give you is not the original title. And Ghana Tema Harbour wants the original title. The original title is still with the creditors. As far as I am concern they have to scann the chasis number through interpol database and if the car's are not stolen. they should let remove their cars. I have 2 new cars in my Garage and i was just about to do the samething by sending one home be4 august and when I am coming back I will sell it and come and pay it OFF. I better keep them here. With this arm robbers in Ghana one cannot trust a taxicab.

The owner of a Honda Ridgeline 4 claimed that he bought the car in June 2006. However, the documents he provided showed that the car was manufactured in 2007.
----------------------------------this is possible. if the reporter had checked he would have realized that the car in question is a 2007 model manufactured in the year 2006

Stupid Ghanaians

1) Should not the countries of origin of those stolen vehicles worry their little heads over stolen vehicles, to ensure that they cannot leave those countries without proof of purchase?

2. Why should Ghana waste scant security and other resources that could be used to fight armed robberies and other internally-generated criminal activity, of which there is plenty, to fight criminal activity in the service/on behalf of more endowed countries of origin of these so-called stolen vehicles?

3. Are those countries of origin of allegedly stolen vehicles paying the Ghanaian Govt for the Policing activity that is being done on their behalf with otherwise scant or unavailble resources, including many man-hours paid for by the overstretched and over-abused cocoa farmers?

4. Is Ghanaman going to be stupid forever, jumping at every opportunity to fetch for Obroni?

5. Note: the above is in no way to be misconstrued as endorsing criminal activity of Ghanaians sojourning abroad. However, it is meant to get these stupid Ghanaians allegedly running the country to use their damn brains for a change.

This situation, not that I sanction the importing of stolen cars, can be improved by simply bringing dow the import duties and taxes levied on these cars to acceptable levels. As a result of the exorbitant taxes being paid on these vehicles, a market has been created for those who wish to acquire these vehicles, but are not willing to pay the riduclously high prices on the market here. Until steps are taken to do so, I am afraid that stealing these vehicles and importing them will remain the staus quo. As for the gentleman who imported the Honda Ridgeline in 2006, he is telling the truth because car models are manufactured a year ahead, so you can buy a 2007 model car in 2006.

you can buy a 2007 car in 2006. This means it is a 2007 model manufactured in 2006.
I live in Canada I bought my PT cruzer 2002 in November 2001 new.
so the guy who bought his 2007 car in 2006 june might be right so long as he bought the car.
Stolen cars and Daasebre
Author: Yaw Danso
Date: 02-08 10:19

If you have to find out whether cars imported into the country have genuine papers or not that is fine nobody has any problem with that but just make sure the team conducting the investigations or checking the papers of these cars are comprised of knowledgeable people who know what they are about not drunks and wee smokers such as Daasebre who stop you in the middle of the road fully armed with his gang. With no training no courtesy this man treats you like a common criminal just because you are driving a benz car or x5 or what ever. He impounds your car and he drives it all over the place to night clubs and strawberry -(opposite the former fox strap night club) where he hangs out at night drinking beer with prostitutes. This easily removes his card indicating that he works with national securitz castle Osafo Marfo and you name it he is Theresa Kufours brother and as he is an untouchable. Indeed This man simplx drives you mad till you swear never to set foot into this land of your birth. But the truth is that there are people working outside and within this country wgo have the money to genuinely acquire any posh vehicle and as such Daasebre and his gang should not seeanyone driving such vehicles as criminals and treated as such right in the middle of the street. And that is exactly what this man did to me. He crossed my vehicle at night virtually pushing me into a ditch my wife and 8month old baby were on board, my crime? I was driving an x5 when I showed him all the papers covering the vehicle this man asked for the keyx took the car away left us in the middle of knowwhere with a crowd of people looking on. After searching the nooks and crannies of Accra for a week I found him driving my car and he told me he had tried calling my phone but it was switched off. He simply said OK I found out that you ahd paid all the duty and you acquired your car genuinely, you see I am only trying to protect you, we are worling for Osafo Marfo and Baa WIREDU: cAN SOMEBODY CHECK THIS FOR ME; IS THIS HOW LOW GHANA HAS SUNK: Indeed my car has never beeb the same, it had dents and all. So please put together a team to do this job well if you have to its important but please not this man called Daasebre. This is not just another job for the boys. Please get officials from the Customs and excise unit the police with an identifiable office. Not Hoodlumps and pimps parading as National security and defence intelligence operatives.- This Daasebre man is simply a drunk
