Good information to Know
Author: Osofo Addo

For the masses of people who blaze dangers to immigrate to other lands.

Dying to Get To The Promised Land

There is no secret to hide,
Communications are instant
And global to villages large and small
No more hiding from these influences
As they transcend fortifications
Built to prevent those from outside .
Desperate to reach the promised land
Amid sufferings injuries and death
They scale fences and deserts .
Lurking in shadows that are not there
To wait for a chance and a time .
Risking lives over and over again
To reach the promised land.
They leave homes with one aim
To return home some day with riches .
We never know of the ones who failed
Maybe it takes luck and who can blame them.
The brave die first to get their share
And the rest become statistics.
The news never reach home of those who left.
To look for the promised land that never existed.

What a Wonderful Man
Author: Nii Anum Okpoti -China
Date: 04-13 23:04

I don't know what to tell this man,he has been so honest. I am still in the process of facing realities in life in China. China is the same as well, could even be worse.Employers are all ready to look at your visa before offering you a job not your certificates. Those wishing to come to China to teach shouldn't even think about getting a students visa, the best is working visa. Sometimes business visa is acceptable too. Once again thanks to the author.
Evil money.
Author: Ankonam
Date: 04-13 20:44

Money is not the new evil. It has been around for eternity. Just that nowadays there is prolific money-laundering. Prostitution, drugs, smuggling, etc. are all sources of unquestionable wealth.

There are even some blimkered idiots who kill fellow human for their vital organs thinking it will bring them wealth.

Did you not hear about people selling their own children for money even when they knew they would be murdered for ritual purposes?

It's high time we started questioning where and how people found their wealth.

I totally agree with the writer. Is not only in the UK that life is tough. Is everywhere. My only hope and wish is that everybody gets the opportunity to travel outside Ghana and experience the life and wheather conditions we sometimes have to go througg.

Sam, your article is well written, but I am afraid in this day and age, almost all the people in Ghana knows the hardships and implications of staying abroad but do they care. The adverts on TV and Radio to choose certain money transfer Bureau infuriates me, as if the money they talk about is water that we fetch from the riverside. Oh what a life!!!

We shd be inventive...........
Author: abena
Date: 04-13 12:46

This writer is right but he left out the disgusting things most of our black sisters are involved notably prostituting to survive. Many come to Europe via North Africa to Spain and to Italy. Handful of our brothers, sisters, infants and children perish on the shores of Lampedusa in Italy or on the shores of Spain.

Many of all these africans could come legally to their respective destinations. It isn't easy for most africans to acquire visas legally since many africans who had tourist visas either over-stayed or remained and became illegal. This explains why many africans are denied visas. The rich countries in the west have realized for a long time that africans come in search of greener pastures.

I am looking forward to that day, when africans and for that matter, Ghanaians abroad will return home to collectively make our economy strong by bringing in their international experience and know-how to develop our nation.

The richest/strongest/developed nation(s) were once poor. Many individuals were inventive, others toiled with their sweat, others produced machinary, cloths and equipments (think of Miele,Siemens, Krupp, AEG, Whirlpool etc. All this producing firms started very little. What have Ghanaians and Africans invented???

Let me give an example of how the wearing of jeans came into being to encourage africans and ghanaians to be inventive :

Levi Strauss & family (German:Strauß) were Germans from Bavaria who sailed to the New World to start a new life. They decided stay in Kentuck and open a clothes shop there. Six years later after their arrival, the gold rush began (1848). 1000s of people rushed there to become rich, but there weren't enough housed for everybody.

So Mr. Strauß sent his son levi to California. He told him to sell canvas so that these people could make their own tents to sleep in. When they came into his shop Levi noticed that their TROUSERS were full of HOLES. One of them told him "we need strong pants for our work, but we can't get them anywhere."

SUDDENLY LEVI HAD AN IDEA - WHY NOT MAKE TROUSERS OUT OF TENT CANVAS?

First the gold miners and then people everywhere wanted to buy the new trousers made by Levi Strauss (Strauß: German letter ß =ss). Even cowboys wore them. By 1853 he had his own company and over the years JEANS became known as LEVI's or just JEANS.

In a nutshell we can also work hard to make Ghana a rich country. Once we have a stabil and strong economy many Ghanaians will stay and work home instead of leaving to a foriegn nation.

Date: 04-13 12:05

It is better folks to paint the picture the way it is rather than telling families back home that all is well over here. I have been here in the U.S for almost 5 yrs and realizing that these bodwa bodwa jobs wouldn't solve my problems let alone that of my relatives demands, I did the honest thing by telling them the truth and believe me, the frivolous demands for this and that has gone down. I am currently pursuing my degree and after graduating next year, my utmost goal is to go back home for good. I don't care about the salary, life back home is at least stree free than this hell we call abrokyire.

I will also appeal to relations home to please stop! repeat stop wasting your money on connection thiefs who will make your life a hell later. the story is very true,a friend in ghana who i have not heard from in months emailed me,the first the i did was to say he hope things are ok.

than he asked me to send him 5milloin to solve some family problem, not asking himself if i have sovle the problem.
i live with a friend who is studying at one of the uni's here in london.he was asked by his aunty how he stayed with in ghana to send some money to be used for 10yrs anniversary of his dead great grandmother, who he doesn't even know.
people back home must erase the peception that is one come to london or usa, than he is coming to he a rich person.there are nationals how are poor.just remember we don't walk on gold.

The Answer is = Ma-Te-Me-Ho!
Author: Obotantim Odumgya Brempong
Date: 04-13 07:31

Ghana will give birth to you and defy your parents rights

Ghana will organise outdooring and give you a name

Ghana will give you food , clothes and shelter

Ghana will give you a wife and children

Ghana will give you a State burial.

It is now obvious and vividly clear !

The CPP Young Pioneer Brigades and opportunists, will do everything to defend their dysfunctional Unitary system and its attributed decentralization process which has been installed for them in Ghana by their S`t Sacrament Onwanwani Daasebre Nyankopon Kasapreko Hon. Dr. Kantamanto Osagyefuo Oseadiayo Nhyesofuo Francis Kofi Nwia Nyameke Kankan Nyame kwame nkruma.

This is so because , according to their communist doctrines ,"kwame nkruma never dies"!.

Therefore, they are even prepared to kill fellow human beings to demonstrate their believes.

We all knows that "any parasite and predator who thrives on other people`s hardwork and properties for their survival will always protect what has been planted for their personal advantage alone, regardless of its overwhelming negatives on the general well being of the entire populace".

You could identify these lazy communist opportunist here by their own writings.

The young Pioneer philosophies has eaten so deep inside them that they and are not even prepared for any positive change whatsoever that will ensure sustainable development for all.

In their view, the empty "Chooboi slogans" is everything.

All that they have mastered to preach is "forward ever, backwards never",but how can you move forward when you are not ready for reasonable reforms ?

Anybody who only expects the central government to do everything for him/her is simply lazy , opportunist ,communist predator and a parasite.

"Ma-Te-Me-Ho" or Self help is the solution for your advancement.

The communist must know that;

"If you continue to give aid to some vulnerable people all the time, you are robbing those people the opportunity to utilize their God given skills to advance and to become independent of their own, unless you teach them how to be self-reliant".

How do these kwame nkruma people think about the true meaning of Self-government that they claim to have achieved on 6th March , 1957?

Does self government means "relying on the central government to be dictated at all times"?

Do they expect the central government to decide for them what they should buy from the market and allow to eat ?

Do they expect the central government to determine for them what goods have to be supplied and sold on the markert ?

Do they expect the central government to choose their wives and girl friends for them.

Do they expect the central government to tell them when to go to bed and in what house they are alllowed to sleep.

Do they expect the central government to dictate for them when to wake up and go to toilet?

To them, all that they think about is Ghana first, and not strenghening their family values.

Where is your independence , or self government that you proudly claim to have attained then ?

Weep not Fellow children .

The answer is simply Federalism "Ma-Te-Me-Ho"!

Any wonder Ghanaians have become "unwanted" everywhere? Look at what Ghanaians are doing these days. The writer is honest enough to tell it like it is. In my younger days very few Ghanaians went abroad and those that did were those that could. Our papers were all genuine as our credentials and we all did fine whether we stayed overseas or returned to Ghana. Ghanaians were welcome then. But now look at it. It is disgraceful. Such marginal elements as are traveling now should stay home.

You do not have to agree with the author, but be desent enough to express it in a proper matter.

LIFE IN THE WEST IS HARD...PERIOD....SOME WEARCHEAP TRACK SUITS AND SNEAKERS EVERY DAY BUT GO TO GHANA TO SHOW OFF ITALIAN CROC SHOES.KEEP IT REAL MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS. TAKE IT EASY. Everything Sam said in his article is true. Those who attack him are the ones with a guilty conscience and feel exposed.
By the way, all this nonsense about article writers and contributers to the forum not writing good English must stop. Any Ghanaian (or foreigner)with a good knowledge of the language living in the UK will not fail to realise the bad English of some of the indigenous people, not to mention national TV and Radio presenters. Laughing or insulting people with limited command of a foereign language appears to be a Ghanaian thing. 'Boom'-ing English, as we used to say at BOASS, is no big deal. Sad, isnt't it?
