Prostitutes Take Over Accra

ghana is small to catch them
Author: dabraaaa.

ghana can work hard to catch these girls/boys/men easily. The ghanaians know where and who they are and so is the police so what is the big deal here. This is a way preventing the spread of Aids. Prevention, ptrevention is the answer

I wonder why this writer should use foul language to describe the activities of prostitutes. Mr Angel. could you tell me how their trade affect you? Are the forced into it? If they are slling their bodies, how does that affect you. Prostitution is everywhere in the world in one form or the other. What needs to de done is to regularise the trade by registering them, lincensing them and giving them medical counselling to conduct their business. They could then be tax. Why should the state spend time, resources and money per the police to track down the prostitutes instead of drugs trafficking, armed robbery etc. You sounded so pious but I would not be suprised if you are a client. Read Okot P'Bitek poem, 'The Song of Malaya'in Selections from African Poetry edited by Vincent and Senanu and you will realise the futility in criticising some bodies of inaction. My brother, it can never be banned given the nature of human being.

Too much sex on people brains
Author: Ankonam
Date: 07-15 12:16

Some people have too much sex on their minds and that can't be normal. Do we seek to educate ourselves about the dos and don'ts about sex first before becoming disciplined or the other way round?

How can someone be so much sex-charged that he or she would go to a prostitute or rape somebody? The prostitutes think that they are providing a service but what they don't realise is that they have a psychiatric problem worth curing. Similarly, the men and women who patronise prostitutes think that they are satisfying themselves when, in fact, they should realise that they need psychiatric therapy.

Having said all that, can anyone imagine what would happen if there were not enough prostitutes and psychiatric hospitals to cater for these sex-mad individuals?

I side with you 100% and all the thoghtful reseach and observations. It is too bad to mention prostitution in Ghana. No wonder any foreigner you speak to, says ghanaians ladies are cheap. Others visit the forum and openingly say so when the subject was soccer. Well, if that is the only way they can survive in ghana, they might as well know rthat HIV/AIDS kills slowly and will leave the few to enjoy the oil revenue.

Men are part of the Problem
Author: Kofi-USA
Date: 07-14 13:15

Prostitution in any form is bad however if men can stop soliciting for sex from prostitutes the problem can be minimized. The men who engage in the services of prostitutes are part of the problem and they should be label as prostitutes as well. We tend to blame the women yet is the men who encourage for services of women prostitutes. As a former student of University of Ghana, I saw what married and high position men used to solicit for these services. Behind Legon Hall, Akuafo Hall and Mensah Sarbah Hall (Okponglo) were some of the meeting spots after 6pm for these old and corrupt men used to meet women who are just like their own daughters.

Prostitution is the oldest pro
Author: Lalas Amega
Date: 07-14 05:49

When people make comments, they should reflect on the true meaning of these comments. Prostitution as rightly pointed out is the oldest pro in the world. Offsprings of prostitutes know this and our mothers, uanties, wifes, sisters hold all of us to ransom. And with the saying that it's a mother who knows the true father of her son is 100°/ true. They might have been Ashawo Prez in Ghana before but surely not Prez Kufour.
Na who cause am
Author: E. Kwaw (BT)
Date: 07-14 05:35

It is unfortunate that such issue is been talked about in our nation.
The main cause of prostitution which I think apart from lust are poverty and break in our culture values. We live in a country where everyone thinks about his selfish needs and a country with leaders with no mentality of the future tense but just the present tense. A friend once told me in Africa we elect people without brains to be our leader and just after a year we all start complaning. We have elected people to be ministers and MPs but what do we see today. They all wants to be presidents. How many presidents can Ghana have at a time? This implies that most of our leaders do not have the brains to help but think they have to be president to solve Ghana problems. Where are the companies (GAFCO Fish Cannery, PWD, Bonsa Tyre etc) our mothers use to work in? I think we need a women to be presidents in Africa than stupid presidents like MONKEY Mogabi and co.
Women who are poor and have no means of living have no option than to engage in prostitution. I know it is wrong but hope God will forgive them since Africa leaders have made them to be so.
I do remember cultural studies, the values of our society but where is it now? One was scared to engage in such act because of our culture.
We should also watch foreigners in our country for some of them are leading our ladies into such immoral acts.
I have nothing more to say than to weep for our nation and Africa as a whole. The black man is not stupid and so our leaders should not make as seems to be stupid by not putting their so call acquired knowledge togather to the betterment of Africa and stop resigning because they want to be president. I am still proud to be a Ghanaian and an African.
God bless Ghana, God bless Africa and long live African women and punish those leaders who are not making life comfortable for you ladies.

Ghana Arise!!!

Good observation there by the writer/SUN. The things that characterized the Ghanaian culture decades past (e.g.. the motives behind acts like Dipo. bragoro) and the need for chastity are slowly but surely being ignored for "modernization" - what I choose to call failure of man to put a tight grip on our emotions.

We are copying the so-called advance countries, but yet we fail to realize the state they are in and how much they want to turn back.

A guy/gal who stands on the street to offer himself/herself for sex at a price is no different from the married person who cheats on his spouse or the unmarried person who fornicates.

All religions frown on such acts - all religions. So what is our excuse for our perpetual and unashamed acts? Are we playing games with our God? Do we think God is not aware of these things? It’s a shame that someone will sacrifice His son in order for all to be whole...and yet, man lives like it never happened. No one shall go scot free.

Put religion aside. As individuals, don’t we have some dignity in ourselves? Are we that cheap? Are those few seconds worth the price on our lives. Is it worth it to have someone brag before his / her colleagues that you were "floored"? Come on guys, lets wake up.

Prostitution must not be encouraged…its no different from the goat who bleats and jumps on the back of another goat…or the cock in your backyard who makes his moves to jump on the back of a hen. We are better than that.

If you add value to your life, at a little cost. You can get a more dignified career and respectful career/hobby than sleeping around..whether for money, "love" or obligation.

God is watching…He may be silent..but not for long….Ghana arise!!!
