105 police officers chase NAM 1 for their GH¢4 million investments

A total of 105 police officers are on the heels of embattled businessman, Nana Appiah Mensah alias NAM 1 for their over GH¢3,906, 000 investments locked up with his troubled gold dealership firm, Menzgold.

It is gathered that out of the total number of victims, some have retired while others are still in active service narrating the ordeal they have gone through in almost one year after their inability to retrieve the locked up cash.

62-year-old Chief Superintendent (retired) Sampson Addai Mensah who acts as spokesperson of the group sadly reveals how he halted the construction of his retirement home as a result of his inability to get money invested with Menzgold.

According to him on Accra-based Asempa Fm, he and his colleagues took the matter before Accra High Court some months and were awarded a cost but Nana Appiah Mensah was no way to be found in order to enforce the court’s ruling.

He welcomed the decision by an Accra Circuit Court to grant him bail to the tune GH¢1 billion but advised him to put out a payment plan to ensure that customers are assured he will payback their investments.

“I sent my investments less than six months and was regularly receiving interest. We were motivated by the adverts on radio stations with an imposing office. We welcome the court’s decision but we only need our money. We have GH¢ 3,906, 000.00 with Menzgold now and so it is important that we get a payment plan very fast to get our monies,” he stated.

An Accra Circuit court on Friday July 26, 2019 presided over by Jane Helen Akweley Quaye granted NAM 1 GH¢ 1 billion bail with five sureties three of whom must be justified.

NAM 1 has charged for defrauding by false pretence and two counts of abetment to carry out banking business without licence, contrary to Section 6 (1) of the Banks and Specialised Deposit-taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930).

Two of his companies — Brew Marketing Consult and Menzgold Ghana Limited — represented by him, have each been charged with defrauding by false pretence, contrary to sections 20 (1) and 13 (1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
