2014 World Cup: Andre primed for improved performance in Brazil
Ghana forward Andre Ayew believes he has matured enough to offer an improved performance at the 2014 World Cup.
The 24-year-old is in the running to play in his second straight World Cup finals having been named in Ghana’s provisional squad for June’s tournament in Brazil.
Ayew has grown to become an influential member of the Black Stars team ever since making his World Cup debut four years ago in South Africa.
The Olympique Marseille talisman now looks to crank up his performance having gained more experience with one of the top clubs in Europe.
“I will approach the World Cup with more maturity, confidence and certainty,” he said.
“We acknowledge the fact that we are in the group of death.”
Ayew was one of the major beneficiaries of the wholesale promotion of players from Ghana’s 2009 U20 team to the Black Stars.
The son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele alongside the likes of Daniel Opare, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Jonathan Mensah and Dominic Adiyiah earned the chance to play for Ghana at senior level after excelling with the Black Satellites.
