TSG Hoffenheim defender, Kasim Nuhu, could return to the Black Stars set up as the team gear up to face Tunisia in the Round of 16 stage of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Monday, July 8. Nuhu was out of the Ghana team that beat Guinea-Bissau 2-0 to finish top of Group F due to suspension and is expected to return against Tunisia.
The centre-back could partner John Boye in the crucial encounter with Tunisia having served his suspension for accumulating two yellow cards against Benin and Cameroun.
The Black Stars finished top of Group F with five points having drawn 2-2 with Benin in the opening game, a goalless stalemate with Cameroun before beating the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau 2-0 to progress.
Having gone 37 years without the AFCON trophy, the Stars have been tasked to end the nation’s three decades drought by winning the continental campaign.
Coach Kwasi Appiah could lead the team to its first AFCON glory since 1982 when Ghana won its fourth continental crown.
