Presenting the facts, Police Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the accused, Ama, is the first wife of one Mr Oppong Mensah and the complainant, Margret Eshun is the second wife.

He said ever since Margret joined the marriage three years ago, the two have been at loggerheads. The prosecutor said on December 25th last year, Ama went to the husband's farm to harvest cocoa and on her way home, the complainant Margret Eshun, who was also going to the farm from the opposite direction confronted Ama and asked why she had harvested the cocoa from the farm. This generated into a hot exchange of words between them.

According to the prosecutor, Margaret took advantage of Ama, who was carrying the heavy load, and started beating her with raffia palm stick on the way till she reached her cottage. Inspector Paddy said having endured the provocation from Margaret, Ama took her farm cutlass and inflicted multiples cuts on the complainant but she (Margret) was save by neighbors when they heard her shouts for help.
