Accused in sale of fake products granted bail

Two businessmen, based in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality, standing trial for selling fake decoders with forged trademarks, have been granted GH¢15,000.00 bail with two sureties to be justified.

The accused persons, Musah Danjumah, 22, and Abu Zibo, 29, who appeared before the Tarkwa Circuit, court pleaded not guilty to the offence and they would reappear before the court on March 4.

Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told the court, presided over by Mr. Justice Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew, that the complainant, Blondell Afful, was the Southern Manager of the Strong Digital Technology Ghana Limited.

According to the prosecutor, the company had received information from their clients that some people had imported decoders bearing the trade name of the company and they were selling them at cheaper prices on the market.

The Prosecution said on January 8, the Company, which was the sole accredited distributor of the brand in the country, lodged a complaint with the police and led them to shops of the accused persons at the Tarkwa Main Lorry Station to arrest them.

The fake decoders were retrieved from Danjumah and Zibo and they admitted in their caution statements that they received them from Togo and one supplier called Illiasu from Bawku, the Prosecution said.
