The pleasure of passing sometime in the United States and Canada may be short-lived for the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region, Mary Boatemaa Marfo, MyNewsGh.com reports.

The embattled DCE has arrived from her working tour of the two North American countries to a vote of no confidence by some members of the Sekyere East Assembly.

Last week, sixteen assembly members in accordance with the Model Standing Orders of the District Assemblies Act passed a resolution for a vote of no confidence on the DCE.

The assembly members alleged in the petition that, Hon. Mary Boatemaa Marfo had abused her office in several ways, including but not limited to;

1. “School feeding malfeasance (creating of non-existent schools and inflation of enrolment of some schools”.

2. ” Projects not passing through the proper procedures; some projects and programmes such as the evacuation of refuse amounting to GHC 530,000?.

3. “Inflation of contract sums”.

4. ” PWD Common Fund disbursement; the DCE unilaterally bought items and distributed to PWDs without following the recommendations from the appropriate committees of the Assembly and necessary procurement procedure”.

The meeting for the passing of the resolution is slated for 10 AM on Tuesday, 2nd April, 2019.

Presiding Member of the Sekyere East District Assembly, Emmanuel Agyei NAAFI has told MyNewsGh.com on an interview that, “all is set for the process and it is expected that, by the end of the meeting, the will of the assembly members shall prevail”.

Out of the 38 members of the assembly, 16 members signed the petition, passing for the requirement of the Model Standing Orders for at least “one-third of the members” to do so.

Hon Mary Boatemaa Marfo was in the US and Canada, with colleague DCEs in the Asante Akim enclave for a “working visit” at the time the resolution was passed.

She returned to Ghana just last Sunday; she must be able to pull the strings by whatever means possible to foil the attempt to remove her from office or say goodbye to her position.

Until her appointment, she was the Women organiser of the New Patriotic Party in the Effiduase-Asokore Constituency and a kindergarten teacher.
