A detective with the Criminal Investigative Department of the Ghana police service has resigned from the police service to contest on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress in the Okere constituency.

Detective Corporal John Evans Ayerakwa-Kumordzi tendered in his resignation letter to the IGP, David Asante- Apeatu in accordance with the Police Service Act.

The IGP received his resignation letter in November last year and approved it in February this year.

The 35-year-old resignation follows one by a senior police officer, who is the executive secretary of the IGP, superintendent Peter Tuubo to enable him to contest on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress in the Wa West constituency.

The police corporal has already picked his nomination form to contest for the NDC in the Okere constituency where he hails.

Corporal Ayerawa-Kumordzi told Ghanaweb he has decided to win the seat for the NDC and campaign rigorously for NDC's flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

According to him, the former president is well cut out for the job of a president than anybody else.
