This year?s basketball calendar will set off to an action-packed start when the Cowbell Greater Accra Top 6 Tournament begins at the Lebanon House in Accra on May 7.

The teams competing in the week-long tournament are defending league champions, Braves of CEPS, Yotive, Reformers of the Prisons Service, Flames, Warriors and Tudu Wizards.

According to the Chairman of the Greater Accra Basketball Association, Mr P.D. Vanderpuye-Orgle, the competition is expected to be very keen, especially considering the fact that the sponsors, Cowbell, have made available some very attractive prizes.

The winner will walk away with ?10 million while the runner-up receives ?7 million. The third-placed team will take home ?5 million.

The tournament, according to Mr Vanderpuye-Orgle, will serve as a good preparation for this year?s league.

?The league was delayed because most of the players took part in the 49th Independence Anniversary parade held at the Independence Square,? he revealed.

The date for the commencement of this year?s league, is however, yet to be confirmed.
