Bawumia donates GHC5OK to RTU

Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has donated a cash amount of GHS50,000 to the Board and Management of Tamale-based Real Tamale United (RTU) in the Northern region.

This was presented to the club by the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed as patron of the club on Monday, 19 February 2018, at the training pitch of the club at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

The Minister said the donation is to enhance the financial muscle of the club in the upcoming season.

"I am here on behalf of the Chiefs and people of the Northern region, as well as on behalf of the Chiefs and people of the three regions of the north, which we can also call Northern Ghana, this is because RTU is a symbolic representative of the people of the North when we are talking about sports and the importance of sports. We cannot complete writing our story of sports in Northern region and Northern Ghana without RTU being in the lead.

"We the people of the North have to see RTU as an institution and we have a responsibility to do everything in our power to make sure that the team is strong. RTU should be competitive when it comes to national sports and be able produce to feed the national team. RTU should be able to produce more, because we have many talents in the north," he said.

Mr Sa-eed lamented the current state of RTU and emphasised the need to revamp the club.

Meanwhile, the Technical Director for the club, Mr Sayibu Ibrahim Tank, said the support serves as a form of encouragement to the management and the playing body of the club. He was optimistic that, the team will put in their maximum performance to qualify for the Ghana Premier League in the next season.
