Blame late aliu mahama and john mahama partly for accra floods - NDC- MP

A national democratic congress Member of Paliament has blamed two vice presidents under the 4th republic for the flooding of Accra which recently visited disaster on some residents resulting in the death of hundreds.

According to the member of parliament for Dade- Kotopon, Hon Nii Amasah Namoale, the intervention of the then vice president, late Aliu Mahama and John Dramani Mahama when he was also vice president to stop the successive governments from relocating a slum community in the heart of Accra popularly called Sodom and Gomorrah is part of the cause of flooding of Accra yearly.

The legislator who is Agronomist by profession disclosed that the late Aliu Mahama and the then vice president Dramani Mahama stopped their governments from phasing out the slum community because it harbors people from their home regions.

He analyzed on Rainbow Radio 87.5fm morning show hosted by kwame Tutu that the Sodom and Gomorrah settlement is sited at where the odaw drainage distil itself and join the sea but the activities choke the drainage hence the perennial overflow .

He stated that until leading figures of NDC and NPP stop politicking and gather courage to clear the slum, Accra will continue to experience flooding the former deputy minister of Agriculture called for political consensus between the two major political parties to resettle Sodom and Gomorrah to stop the flooding and pollution of the odaw drainage .

Hon Namoale said that action cannot wait any longer due to the deaths and damage caused by the June 3rd 2015 floods. He has charged political leaders from all sides to remove the Sodom and Gomorrah slum without hesitation.
