Accra, April 9, GNA - An Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday remanded into prison custody a businessman who expelled 68 pellets of drugs suspected to be cocaine.

Michael Ntiamoah is being held for possessing narcotic drugs without lawfully authority.

The court did not take Ntiamoah's plea and remanded him into police custody to reappear on April 23.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector Marjorie Otabil said at about 2030 hours on April 2, Ntiamoah who resides in Italy arrived at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to board Emirates Airline flight to Dubai. The prosecution said while Ntiamoah was going through departure formalities operatives of the Narcotics Control Board suspected him of carrying drugs in his stomach because of his strange movements. Operatives of NACOB sent him to the 37 Military Hospital for an ex-ray, which proved that he had some foreign materials in his stomach. When the operatives of NACOB put him under surveillance for 24 hours, he expelled 68 whitish pellets suspected to be cocaine. When Ntiamoah was quizzed over the suspected drugs, he said he bought them at the cost 18,000 dollars from one Chairman.
