The Ghana Immigration Service officials in the Northern Region say they will soon transfer illegal Chinese ‘Rosewood Queen’ Helen Huang to its headquarters in Accra for further investigations.

The wanted Chinese woman was rearrested on Monday after jumping bail about six weeks ago.

The 43 years old Chinese national was arrested in Tamale about two months ago for attempting to transport the banned forestry product packed into two tracks.

Police arrested her when she reported herself after her return from her country, China, where she’s been hiding since she escaped. An earlier unconfirmed report said she was hiding in neibhouring Togo.

The Acting Northern Regional Immigration Commander William Andoh in an interview said their intended action follows the referral of the case to them by a court in Tamale on Tuesday.

“We are referring her case to our headquarters in Accra for her to establish her immigration status. After listening to her we decided to send her to the headquarters as early as practicable so that is exactly what we are doing.”

Helen Huang two days after her first arrest was declared missing two days after being granted a police Inquiry bail.

She accused checkpoint officers of demanding a ¢8,000 bribe before her arrest.
