The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been asked to cease playing politics with the state of insecurity bedevilling the nation, especially on the issue of kidnapping.
The two leading political parties, the opposition NDC and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the last couple of days, have been engaged in a running battle over which political party the alleged kidnappers of two Canadian girls recently rescued, are affiliated to.
The NDC, after police arrested the suspected kidnappers, claim they have empirical evidence that four of the suspects belonged to the NPP. They alleged that one of the suspects, Seidu Mba has been seen in the company of some kingpins of the NPP.
This allegation has however been countered by the ruling party insisting that Seidu Mba rather belonged to the NDC.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has vowed that the NDC will not cease politicizing the arrest of the Canadian kidnappers.
He says the politicization of criminals was started by the ruling party, and wonders "why should they (NDC) stop when the criminals involved are known NPP Delta Force members".
But some well-meaning Ghanaians, including the host of Peace FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', Kwami Sefa Kayi, have condemned the two political parties for playing politics with the kidnapping saga. Click to read
Speaking to this on Tuesday's edition of 'Kokrokoo', the Member of Parliament for Subin constituency, Eugene Boakye Antwi said: "if the intention of the NDC is to link kidnapping to the NPP so they can win the 2020 election, they should have a serious rethink".
