Dr. Amoako Baah flays Murtala over radio rant
Head of Political Science Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has described as “youthful indiscretion” recent outbursts by Deputy Minister of Trade, Murtala Mohammed.
According to Professor Amoako Baah, no experienced politician will go on radio to tongue-lash a colleague for plotting to unseat him.
The deputy Trade Minister in reaction to a supposed plot by some Members of Parliament to unseat him threatened to open a Pandora box.
He alleged that these detractors have gone to the extreme of bribing chief and opinion leaders in the Northern region with ‘filthy ill-gotten money’.
Murtala was lampooned by many including the chiefs and people of the Northern region after the outburst and he offered an unqualified apology for his actions.
But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Prof. Amoako Baah expressed shock at the conduct of the deputy Minister.
"Murtala spoke like an ordinary person having a quarrel on the street, not as a statesman,” he stressed.
The Political Scientist said the deputy Trade Minister should have sent to supposed evidence he had to the party leadership for redress rather than ranting on radio.
This notwithstanding, Prof Amoako Baah called on Ghanaians to accepted Murtala’s apology and “give him a second chance”.
