Former deputy Energy Minister John Jinapor has called on government to review the processes leading to the selection of Power Distribution Service (PDS) as the new electricity distribution Assets and Operations after it took over from the Electricity Company of Ghana Ltd (ECG).
According to him, PDS is currently not meeting Ghana's power sector goals, a situation which could eventually destabilize the whole energy sector and result in the rise in cost of power and crippling of the energy sector.
In a press release by John Jinapor, he said “. I am convinced beyond any doubt that though the Project was a noble initiative, the selection processes leading to the selection of Power Distribution Services (PDS) as the preferred concessionaire is not only flawed but also inimical to the interest of Ghana. Therefore, the concession must be reviewed immediately.”
The former deputy energy Minister is also demanding the full disclosure of Performance Guarantee issued by PDS which was a critical Condition Precedent for takeover of ECG assets.
“I call on well-meaning Ghanaians to demand full disclosure of the Performance Guarantee issued by PDS which was a critical Condition Precedent for takeover of ECG assets. I am also calling for same. The details of the guarantee supposedly issued by PDS must be made available for scrutiny since available information suggests this key requirement was not properly executed.”
