Claims by former President Mahama that he is convinced that God orchestrated his defeat in the 2016 elections has been rubbished by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, who has cautioned the former president not to confuse the Supreme Being to the deities he consults.

Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, explained that antecedents set by former President Mahama during his tenure should easily inform Ghanaians that he is desperately trying to ride on religious matters to come back to power and re-practice things “God Almighty abhors”.

“I want to tell former president Mahama that his convictions came from the gods he keeps under his bed and not the God Almighty who created this universe.

The God who created this world would never appoint corrupt people to be president. Former president Mahama smuggled his way to be president of Ghana, he didn’t come from God.

He connived with his smaller gods to be President of Ghana but God wasn’t asleep; He was just watching him and the evil he does.

He allowed him to grow the horns he (Mahama) has always wanted to grow and rejected him at the approriate time through the ballot”, Chairman Wontumi said.

Mr. Mahama recently started his campaign to lead the opposition NDC in the 2020 presidential election from Awutu Senya East and West in the Central region.

It was during the visit that he stated that the heaviest defeat, to be suffered by a sitting president since Ghana returned to democratic rule in 1992, is to afford Ghanaians the opportunity to compare the performance of his administration to that of the current regime led by Nana Akufo-Addo.

He visited several constituencies during his four-day campaign tour of the region to share his vision with delegates and seek their mandate to lead the party.
