Extend your professional services to market women-CID Boss charges women Accountants

The Director General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah (Mrs, has charged women accountants in Ghana to extend their services to market women who may be oblivious of the importance of good financial decisions among other best practices to improve their businesses.

She urged them not to restrict their professional expertise to their assigned offices but ensure that they avail themselves for these market women to tap into such expertise in order to sustain their trade.

DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquah who is a chartered accountant by profession and has assumed the position of the National President of the Association of Women Accountants, Ghana (AWAG), observed that most of these traders need knowledge specially in inventory management, financial management, pricing and business financing.

“Get involved in AWAG, get involved in the activities at our work places and in our communities. We should be thinking about how other people also benefit from our expertise. There are people who need some guidelines to help them take the right financial and business decisions. Especially inventory management, financial management, pricing and business financing. Wherever we find ourselves let try and help others in our own small ways. This will give meaning to who we really are”, she disclosed at a handing over ceremony in Accra covered by MyNewsGh.com

She was full of praise for the outgone President of the association, Mrs Belinda Dede Tandoh for their dedication, commitment and the wonderful manner she and the other executives administered activities, which has seen AWAG move to this level over the past two years.

“I take this opportunity thank you sincerely for the good work done. You have laid a very concrete foundation which we need to build on. This foundation has presented us with high expectations which we would need to fulfill. We have no excuse but rather build on this solid foundation to bring AWAG to even greater heights. We pray that with God on our side, we would exceed these expectations. I wish you well and also seek your constant direction as we take over the helm of affairs”, she disclosed.

On her part, she promised together with the team to give off their best to achieve their aim which is to attract females into the accountancy profession, retain them and build capacity for career advancement adding that they continue to focus on Continuous Professional Development aimed at building capacity for members.

“The Accountancy Profession is dynamic therefore there is the need to constantly build on our capacity to acquire knowledge and skills required of us in the discharge of our duties”, she stressed.
