Tinkaro Asare Osei, the immediate past President of National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has been awarded as the Students’ Icon of the Year in Ghana for 2019 at the maiden edition of the NUGS Excellence Awards.

The event, which was held at the Accra International Conference Center as part of the NUGS Handing Over Ceremony and Alumni Homecoming, honoured deserving personalities who have contributed significantly to enhancing the cause of students and education in Ghana.

Tinkaro, who was recently crowned as the Most Impactful Students leader for the 2018/2019 academic year at the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG) Annual Dinner and Awards Night, also received the Best Student Author of the Year for the book, “The Force of Will: Restoring TheGlory Of NUGS.”

These awards came as a no surprise to many as Tinkaro, since assuming office as the NUGS President position, has shown leadership of no personal interests, futuristic and innovation and most importantly an anchor for unity on the students front.

Although he succeeded a divided front, he never gave up on his promise to redeem the spirit of student activism in Ghana, to put the mother union of Ghanaian students unions to its rightful state and restore its lost glory.

He is celebrated by students for his iconic leadership and his unquantifiable leadership prowess which makes him a very influential figure in student leadership.

Tinkaro, who is also Ghana’s representative to the Commonwealth Students Association, is has been touted as one of the young leaders with potential to drive change on the continent.
