The Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu, John Abdulai Jinapor has said that the National Democratic Congress will not reduce fuel pricing should they come to power.

According to asaaseradio.com, John Jinapor, while addressing the public in an interactive version of Adom TV’s Badwam show on July 12, on the topic ‘A look at Ghana’s energy sector,’ asserted that if the next NDC administration cannot reduce fuel prices drastically, they will ensure that the price margin remains stable and doesn’t increase.

“There are two fundamental issues about petroleum prices. If you cannot reduce it, don’t let it go up too much. That’s the first thing we should look at. If you reduce the price, you have to make provision for it in the budget. I will not tell you that because we want to win power, I should lie to you that if we come we shall reduce fuel prices, no, that will not happen,” the NDC MP said.

The lawmaker emphasized the need to have a balanced economy, while stating that other sectors, including health, road infrastructure, and education, among others also need to be prioritised.

He indicated that the government will channel resources into developing these sectors to ensure growth.

“We have to be realistic because we need to pay hospitals, we have to build roads and schools. When you are managing an economy, you have to balance it,” asaaseradio.com quoted as to have said.
