Ghana: Faith and Science

Fri, 22 Feb 2008 Source: Amoa-Kodie, Paulius Owuraku

"There is so much frustration in Ghana because we have relied on gods rather than God. We have genuflected before the god of science only to find that it has given us the atomic bomb, producing fears and anxieties that science can never mitigate. We have worshipped the god of pleasure only to discover that thrills play out and sensations are short-lived. We have bowed before the god of money only to learn that there are such things as love and friendship that money cannot buy and that in a world of possible depressions, stock market crashers, and bad business investmemts, money is rather uncertain deity. These transitory gods are not able to save or bring happiness to the human heart. Only God is able. It is faith in Him that we must rediscover." Science deals mainly with facts; Faith deals mainly with values. The two are not rivals. They are complementary. Science keeps faith from sinking into the valley of crippling irrationalism and paralyzing obscurantism. Faith prevents science from falling into the march of obsolete materialism and moral nihilism."

Ghana needs a man of Faith to lead God's people to the promise land not a man who do not even have the values of life. The people need change. " The belief that God will do everything for man is as untenable as the belief that man can do everything for himself. It, toois based on a lack of faith. We must learn that to expect God to do everything while we do nothing is not faith but superstition."

The problem we face now is evil and good. How many people in Ghana have the good knowledge? Even those who go to church are evil. No faith, they are afraid to speak out, So evil people will vote evil man to power and they will cry to God for common food. God does not do things like that.True Christians need to grow and serve the Nation before Christ will come. Christianity is not a religion but it is a relationship. I challenge the people of faith to stand up and educate the people not to vote if they do see a Godly man. Who so ever will vote for ungodly will be in trouble with God.

"For Africa's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Ghana's sake I will not rest until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. (Isaiah 62;1)"

"Science investigates; Faith interprets. Science gives man knowledge (evil and good), which is power; Faith gives man wisdom, which is control.
