The Ambassador of Mexico to Ghana, H. E. Maria De Los Angeles Aguirre has observed that the country is growing faster and positively under current President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, MyNewsGh.com reports.
According to her, she is poised to turn Ghana and Mexico into strategic partners in the economic field and as a result, will work closely with Ghana to help achieve the President’s vision.
Speaking to Rasheeda Adams on “Talk with Rasheeda” the Ambassador said since assuming the position as the Head of the Embassy, she has worked hard to convince Multinational Mexican corporations to come and invest in Ghana in order to further grow the local economy which will bring Ghana closer to being a self-sufficient country, but was quick to shift the responsibility of “packaging Ghana for export” to Ghana.
“I will Turn Ghana and Mexico into strategic partners in the economic field because Ghana is growing fast and growing very positive and getting into a new shape like the President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo said “Ghana beyond aide”, she promised.
“Regarding trade, each country has a duty to promote its own products and to promote its own trade”, she said.
Mrs Aguirre credits the embassy’s hard work for the recent arrival of a big Mexican Agricultural Multinational Agromoneta into the Ghanaian market
Mexico is a leading world producer of corn, wheat, soybeans, rice, beans, cotton, sugarcane, and coffee and she indicates more of such companies will make an entrance to contribute to the agricultural sector in Ghana.
Multilateral Front
Ghana and Mexico are strong supporters of each other on the multilateral front, According to Mrs. Aguirre, and in global bodies where voting is necessary, Mexico considers Ghana a strong ally, a partnership which together with Russia, worked towards the year 2015, being named “the year of light” by UNESCO, which was a universal effort to appreciate the importance of light on our lives.
