The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo is of the view that the peace in the country would have been destabilized if former President John Dramani Mahama is a violent leader following the outcome and the verdict of the 2020 general elections.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) went to the Supreme Court to seek redress following concerns it suspected related to rigging in the 2020 elections results.

According to Mr Ofosu-Ampofo who is among party bigwigs following former President John Dramani Mahama on his Thank You Tour, “Ghanaians have never witnessed an election where military and policemen were deployed to polling stations to intimidate opposition (NDC) party, supporters”.

“NDC won both Presidential and majority in parliament but because President Akuffo-Addo was desperate for power, lives were lost for him to get power” Mr Ofosu Ampofo claimed.

Mr Ofosu Ampofo stated that “Because former President John Dramani Mahama and NDC value the peace of this country, the party accepted defeat in a good faith”.

“Elections, where people were shot dead by a joint police and military men, can never be described as free and fair elections”.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said while addressing a section of party supporters in Kumasi that “When you conduct a DNA test on John Dramani Mahama, you will never find or see violence in his blood because he is a man of peace.”
