Tsito (V/R), Nov. 7, GNA - Mr. Kofi Wayo, the founder of the National Renaissance Party, has attributed the country's economic woes to mismanagement and greed on the part of past and present leaders.
"The abject poverty level of the people of this country is due to greed, selfishness, mismanagement and inefficiency by our leaders over the years", he said.
Mr. Wayo said this in a chat with journalists at the Yam Festival of the chiefs and people of Awudome Tsito in the Ho Municipality at the weekend.
He said the country needed a visionary, selfless, efficient and God-fearing leader to move it from the present economic mess and appealed to the electorate to vote the New Patriotic Party (NPP) out of office next year as it has woefully failed them.
Mr Kofi Wayo said people should also not be swayed by the sweet talks of the leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to vote for them to come back to power as they are part of the country's woes and have nothing new to offer.
"The hordes of ex-ministers of the NPP administration criss-crossing the length and breadth the country to be elected flag bearer of their party are all corrupt, greedy and inefficient. Do not listen to them because they are part of the present government that has failed us and are just pursuing their hidden agenda."
Mr. Kofi Wayo said if elected president of the country, which he hoped Ghanaians would do in the 2008 general elections, some of his priorities would be to build factories, especially in the Volta Region, to create jobs for the army of unemployed youth roaming the streets of the country.
"If I become president of this country I would demonstrate to the so called developed countries that the black man does not only use his head for carrying loads as they are thinking but can use it to create wealth and be at par with them", he said.
Asked how strong his party is at the grassroots for him to be so sure of winning the 2008 presidential elections, Mr. Kofi Wayo replied, "parties do not win elections, it is rather personalities who win elections and with my personality and popularity, I am very confident Ghanaians will vote for me."
