Renowned gospel musician, Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong popularly known as Great Ampong has embarked on a sensitization campaign to educate Ghanaians on the need to participate in the upcoming voter registration exercise.

The comes on the back of the brouhaha surrounding the compilation of a new biometric voters’ register.

Apart from using a voter ID card to exercise your political right as a citizen, it is also mostly demanded by business entities and corporate organizations for official transactions.

In an interview with Amansan Krakye on Cape Coast-based GBC Radio Central, he urged Ghanaians especially the youth to take part in the upcoming exercise as it will allow them to decide the fate of the country.

“Everyone should go and write their name in the new voters register it is as simple as that. Every youth who feels that you want to choose the president of your choice, I will urge you to go and write your name.

“The mandate has been given to the Electoral Commission to decide on electoral issues and they have decided to compile a new voters’ register. If we don’t write our names we won’t die and if we write our names too we won’t die but the good aspects of it are that when you don’t write your name how can you decide who leads you.

“At the same time, every bank you enter demands a voter ID card, so if the old one is no longer useful and you don’t also go for the new one and let’s say a relative of yours sends you money from abroad, how would you get a voter ID card to go and claim that money.

“Even with this one alone in mind, everybody needs to go and register. Everyone listening to me right now I will urge you to go and register. If you’re a youth out there and you’re 18 years and above I will advise you to go and register when the time is due. I will start my sensitization campaign very soon”.he concluded.
