Has the Managing Director of Panafrique disappeared

Mon, 14 May 2012 Source: Bolus, Mercy

from the travel agencies list?

Panafrique a registered travel agency in the U.K has is no longer operating as a business. In February 2010 my son and four of his friends bought Ghana International Airlines tickets from Panafrique for a trip to Ghana but never got that service. The managing director failed to communicate directly to customers and any attempts to get money back was like an attack. Currently, it appears Panafrique has folded as a business and the managing director is refusing to answer all emails, registered postal mails and has disappeared without trace although the telephone number is still ringing.

We bought 5 tickets from Panafrique in 2010 and when Ghana International Airlines failed to deliver the service we demanded to have our money back.

I still can’t believe that a travel agency is operating in the U.K without any ATOL cover.

Having done by investigations recently, I can strongly confirm that this travel agency was not part of ATOL yet operated as a business and was asking customers to pay directly into business accounts.

Panafrique failed to deliver a service and promised to get back to me on 15th January 2012. However this never happened and started to pursue a legal action against them two months ago and realised they have stopped operating.

Thank God Virgin Atlantic is operating along British Airways and providing an excellent service as compared to the services we have endured both with Ghana Airways and Ghana International.

The message I would share with fellow Ghanaians is not to do any business with any travel agency without asking questions about the travel agency’s ATOL status. We do not know which way to go to egt our money back since Ghana International Airlines failed to buy out money promised by the Government. If any one is in the same situation please do contact me so that collectively we could use a different approach to get our money back.
