Dr Hanson Tetteh Thomas of the Shallon Gyidi Herbal and Spiritual Centre at Adoagyiri near Nsawam, has appealed to individuals and non-governmental organisations to assist in supporting local herbalists to provide supplementary health delivery to people in the rural areas.

He said herbalists must be given the recognition and assistance in their endeavours because they were the first point of call to provide first-hand health services when people suffer from snake bites, malaria and any other diseases in the communities.

Dr Tetteh Thomas made the call when he inspected a structure constructed by him as his personal contribution towards health delivery in the area.

The structure comprised consulting room, out-patient department (OPD), dispensary, spiritual room and the doctor’s dressing room.

He said the people mainly farmers and traders in communities like Adoagyiri, Akwamu, Duayeden, Ntoaso, Adeiso, Asamankese, Sumkrom, Kofisah and others in the area, patronised the centre for their first aid treatments before attending the Nsawam Government Hospital for further medical attention.

Dr Tetteh Thomas said so far his centre had treated about 300 people free of charge in malaria since its establishment.

He appealed to the Member of Parliament for the area to come to his aid for the completion of the project so as to continue to complement government's efforts in providing health delivery to the people.
