The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New PatrioticParty (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako has vowed to sponsor the presidentialprimary of the biggest opposition party.
The former president, according to Mr Wontumi, will be the easiest candidate to beat in election 2020, therefore, he would try his best to sponsor NDC’s presidential elections.
“I’ve always said NDC bringing back Mahama is the best decision they can take. Like I did to their national executives elections,I will once again resource or sponsor their presidential primaries.
“All I’m seeking to gain is to see Mahama leading the party again because that would give us the power to kick him out in election 2020,” he said on Neat FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.
Five flagbearer-aspirants of the opposition NDC have picked nomination forms to contest for the presidential primary.
They are former president John Mahama, Prof JoshuaAlabi, Mr Sylvester Mensah, Mr Stephen Atubiga and Alban Bagbin.
There were reports that the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, had picked the forms on Tuesday, 4 December 2018through his representatives.
However, Mr Bagbin indicated that he had not authorised anyone to do so on his behalf.
But the NPP chair, who became the first person I will the seat after his first term, said, he will ensure that delegates votes for Mahama so it will be easier for NPP to kick him out in 2020.
Chairman Wontumi noted that the NPP would improve on its 2016 votes of 1.2 million by 2 million votes in the Ashanti region.
