If angry youth attack you; kill them - DCE tells police
A shoot to kill call to the Police by a District Chief Executive of Asunafo North, Osei Bonsu has landed him in trouble.
A security analyst Adams Bonaa, said Mr. Bonsu should be interdicted and possibly replaced immediately for his reckless comment that has the potential of creating chaos in the area.
Mr Osei Bonsu had asked the police in the area to shoot any civilian who attacks them.
According to him, the police were not given guns to shoot animals in the bush but to use them on lawless people.
His call comes on the back of a recent attack on the police by some irate youth at Sankore in Brong Ahafo.
Speaking at a durbar in the area, Mr Bonsu said the move will ensure peace in the district.
He found it worrying the incessant attacks on the police by the youth and charged the police to respond in equal measure.
But his comments have been condemned in no uncertain terms.
Adams Bonaa, the Chief Executive officer of the Security warehouse told Joy News’ Evans Mensah the statement was irresponsible.
“I was surprised a whole DCE will make this statement that they should shoot people who attack police station or office. It begs the question how some of these DCEs are appointed.
“I am not expecting our leaders to make such statements,” he said.
He said the president would have to call him to order because the statement cannot go unpunished.
Adams Bonaa said if there was a disagreement in his area, the DCE should rather have opted for dialogue and not violence.
